Welcome to the Sax School UK intermediate area!

In order to be able to join in on our intermediate workshops you will know how to play all 12 major scales by heart, have at least 8 tunes in your repertoire which you can play all the way through and be able to improvise through a blues or some of your own favourite tunes. That’s a big achievement so well done you!

What you will learn in the Intermediate workshops:

• How to develop your ability to improvise through the tunes in your repertoire.

• How to understand chord charts.

• How to develop your knowledge and ability in using the major scales.

• Learning the “how, what, why and where” of minor scales, modes, chords and the chromatic scale.

• How to play with a live band

• You will add 6 more tunes to your repertoire

• How to read music at a intermediate level

*By the end of this course you will know how to:

• Play 6 new tunes

• Use modes in your playing

• Use minor scales and chords to make your playing sound ultra-cool

• Make your improvisations sound much more professional

• Use space, repetition and motifs to give your playing that compelling edge

• Teach yourself any tune

• Work with other musicians in a band setting

• Basic sight reading

You will also have an opportunity to play with a live band

Our intermediate course runs for 12 weeks with each session being around 90 minutes
