Begineers Sax ClassesWelcome to the Beginners area!

 

Playing the saxophone is one of the coolest things a person can do! It’s fun, it’s a hobby or interest that will last your whole life. It will open doors to new life experiences that are closed to people who don’t play the sax. It makes you look super cool. Its lots of fun.

 

We aim to get you playing the sax and having fun doing so as quickly as possible.

 

You don’t even need to own a sax as you can enjoy one of our classes using one of our rental saxophones.

 

What you will learn in your first ever beginners class:

• How to produce a sound on the sax.

• Where your fingers go on the keys of the sax.

• How to play some basic notes.

• How to put those notes together to play an easy tune.

• How to put the sax together, how to put the reed in the right position on the mouthpiece and how to clean your instrument.

 

Once you have these basic skills we help you develop them further over the next few weeks by working on:

• Understanding how major scales fit into tunes.

• Learning how to play the 12 Major scales in a musical way!

• Building up and developing your own repertoire of tunes.

• How to play the 12 bar Blues (The basic structure of thousands of tunes!)

• What improvisation is and how to make a start improvising.

• How to start to read music

 

*By the end of the course you will know how to:

• Play 8 tunes, all the way through from start to finish.

• Play all the 12 major scales, by heart.

• Play a blues.

• Make some cool sounding yet basic improvisations through your favourite tunes in your repertoire

• Read music

• You will also have an opportunity to play with a professional band!

 

This is a 12 week course with each session lasting approximately 90 minutes.

 

Cost of this course is £179.
