Lynden Blades

Lynden BladesSaxophonist Lynden Blades has had a varied and eclectic musical career which has taken him all over the world from London to Bangkok to Melbourne.

He studied jazz at London's City Lit and Brunel University in the mid 1990s and over the last decade has performed professionally all over the UK with a multitude of London-based jazz, soul, blues and ska acts.

The majority of his time is now taken up as saxophonist with Sax and Honey, the Sugar Hill Jazz Band and his own solo sax act Cool Sax. He currently performs at more than 200 gigs every year.

Lynden is also a talented singer with a characterful and hugely entertaining vocal style reminiscent of Louis Prima, Chet Baker, Bobby Darin and others. He frequently performs as guest vocalist with the duo and the band - adding his dynamic vocals to the more high energy jive and rock and roll tracks.

Lynden's passion for the sax also extends to teaching and he is a highly sought after music coach to beginners and intermediate players. His playful, creative, stimulating approach to teaching focuses on developing his students’ confidence and proficiency in live performance situations.

His jazz duo Sax and Honey has won two awards for Best entertainment company of the year.

Matt Telfer

Matt TelferMatt Telfer started playing sax in his teenage years. A big fan of the jazz greats, Matt would spend much of his time playing to old recordings and trying to copy the jazz masters.

The saxophone was mainly a hobby and it wasn't until later on that Matt began to take music more seriously. After a couple of years studying classical saxophone Matt started working regularly with a Birmingham based Soul Band. Touring, recording and performing with the band gave Matt valuable experience and chance to work along side professional musicians. As Matt became a more experienced performer he decided that he wanted to peruse his interest in Jazz so in 2001 he moved to London to further his studies.

Since living in London Matt has studied with and had Guidance form some of the worlds leading jazz musicians including Tim Garland, Bob Mintzer, Toni Kofi, Dave O'Higgins, Courtney Pine and Phil Woods.

More recently Matt has become known as singer Lauren Dalrymple's tenor man, featuring on her debut album Copasetic and appearing alongside her at The Ealing jazz festival, Carney Wharf jazz festival and The Pizza Express jazz club. Matt and Lauren have a return visit to Italy in October this year with several gigs in Rome.

Matt has also performed in some of the UK's most prestigious venues and festivals such as: Carney Wharf Jazz Festival, Soho Jazz Festival, Ealing Jazz Festival, The Jazz Café, Wembley Stadium, Pizza Express Jazz Club, The Pigalle Club, The Cinnamon Club, Birmingham NIA, Ronnie Scott's, The Hard Rock Café London.
